WHY WE STARTED BJJ SCRIMMAGES & MICRO FIGHTS.

GROWING THE SPORT WE LOVE ORGANICALLY

Over the years we had seen too many children, and adult beginner jiu jitsu students register for local BJJ tournaments only to receive a bad experience that caused them to become discouraged from participating in the BJJ event, and thus quitting BJJ all together.  As a gym owner, this is not good for you, and it is not good for the growth of BJJ as a martial art.  Long wait times at tournaments put a damper on any first timer experience when you end up dedicating your entire day to the event, and if you lose, well that sucks really bad.  Wasted day, and wasted $100 bjj tournament buy-in. Sometimes competitors show up to the tournament and only 1 other guy is in your bracket so you only end up getting one match (not much experience win or lose), really sucks!!!!! How does that saying go again?

BJJ Tournament Buy In - $100

Tournament Skull T-Shirt - $25

After spending all day waiting to compete, getting a Gold Medal because you were the only person in your bracket: PRICELESS!

Let's be honest, the traditional BJJ tournament venue is not a good experience for beginners getting their feet wet in the sport. Thats why we created BJJ Scrimmages!

BJJ Scrimmages was created to mitigate bad tournament experiences and we are glad to say that we have succeeded in doing this so far by hosting our friendly jiu jitsu events. The BJJ community loves it, the sport is being promoted, it helps the children as well as the adult beginner practitioner build confidence, and best of all these events give people something healthy and affordable to do with their family!  These events work well as a tool for personal growth, it should be a community experience and people are asking us to grow it, so we are.

In addition to BJJ Scrimmages, we also create opportunities for the up and coming grappling competitor by providing them a platform to showcase their talents on a global stage with our "Micro-Fights" sponsored by BJJ4Change.

BJJ4Change is currently creating the tournament format for their future Netflix camps where fighters will compete against other campers from around the globe so these "micro-fights" help BJJ4Change evaluate and farm out competitors for future grappling shows. By formatting smaller brackets, these events also provide incentives for competitors such as cash and prizes for each bracket, as well as professional video footage of their matches.

There are pros and cons to any competitive format and jiu jitsu is no exception, BJJ is still a young and growing sport with a bright future and one thing is certain, micro-tournaments, scrimmages, and super fight style events are bringing awareness to this sport - which we can all agree as a positive.
